.0 SUBJECT: DB2 DDL

.0 DISTRIBUTION: All Current Users

.0 FROM: Bruce Roberts, Director of DISC

.0 PURPOSE: To provide direction in the creation and maintenance of DB2 objects and libraries.

.0 BACKGROUND: In order to maintain the integrity of systems it has been determined that it is necessary to maintain separate source code libraries for each function such as production, test, training and development. In most instances a minimum of two libraries have proven to be necessary, one for production code and one for testing purposes.

.0 GUIDELINE: DB2 objects and libraries should be as unique to a function, (production, test, training, development), as is source code. Table modifications can and will affect applications and should be carefully tested before changes are put into production. The integrity of a system utilizing DB2 will be as dependent upon the integrity of the DB2 objects and libraries as it is upon source code. As much caution should be exercised to maintain the integrity of DB2 objects and libraries as is utilized to protect the integrity of source code.
