1.0 SUBJECT: Kansan Operator Assistance
2.0 DISTRIBUTION: All State Agencies

4.0 PURPOSE: To establish and define a policy for providing information and routing of calls to state agencies from the public.
5.0 BACKGROUND: DISC provides an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) application for routing of information calls. Agencies desiring this service will provide DISC a phone number to direct calls to their agency. This number may be an agency’s own call distribution service IVR, UCD, ACD, or an individual.
In addition, it will no longer be possible to forward calls from a KANSAN card.
The following defines the procedure for adding agency support to the IVR and for access to conference bridges.
6.0 PROCEDURE:
6.1 Add or change agency number for the IVR menu.
6.1.1 Submit a Work Order detailing the addition and/or change you wish to make.
6.2 Conference Bridges
6.2.1 DISC no longer provides free conference bridge service to State agencies. Agencies wishing to schedule conference bridges may do so by dialing 785-296-0111 and selecting Option 8 (live operator). Charges for scheduled time are $20 per half hour.
6.3 KANSAN card usage from rotary phones.
6.3.1 Calls using the KANSAN card from a rotary phone traditionally were handled by the Kansan Operators. This functionality is now only available through a voice recognition feature of the KANSAN card.
6.3.1.1 Procedure:
6.3.1.1.1. Dial 1-800-503-2801 as printed on the KANSAN card.
6.3.1.1.2 Operator will prompt you to enter your calling card number (14 digit number). If you do not enter a card number after 10 seconds, operator will then ask caller to enter or speak their card number. Speak the number
6.3.1.1.3 The operator will then prompt you to enter the number you are calling. If the caller does not enter anything after 10 seconds the operator will ask the caller to enter or speak the number they wish to call. Speak the number.
6.3.1.1.4 After confirmation the number will be dialed.
