Previous job number:
Including this information can save time and effort when preparing an estimate. It also can help avoid details being left out of the estimate unintentionally. Usually customer service can be of assistance in locating a previous job number if you know the jobs title, requisition number, when it was printed or any other information about the job.

How many pages:
The number of pages is one of the largest factors in determining a jobs cost so the estimate you are requesting will be only as accurate as the information provided. A page is defined as one side of a leaf of paper as it appears in the finished product. Do not confuse the number of pages with the number of originals.

If the Estimate being requested is for a publication which will have a separate cover then it is important for us to know if the page count you are providing includes the cover.

How will the copy be provided?:
Standing Job will indicate that the estimate is for a reprint of a job printed by the Division of Printing previously and it will have no changes to it.

If there are only minor changes to a previously printed publication then you may check the method of our receiving these changes and then in the detailed information space indicate the extent of the changes. For example - "set corrections to 7 pages." or "new camera ready copy for 7 pages"

Ink Lay-up Information:
Each sheet of paper has two sides and we are simply looking for the number of ink colors we will be laying down on each of these sides. The question is broken down into text section and cover section. Just a reminder that if the estimate if for a booklet or book it will more than likely require ink on both sides of the sheet even if the final product is to be blank on the back side of each page. Also make note that on the section pertaining to the cover we are talking about "inside and outside" not "front and back".

Paper Stock Selection:
The Division of Printing inventories thousands of paper stock items of numerous colors, weights, textures and categories. If you know of a publication that you can use to describe the stock you may use this kind of information but if more specific information is required it may require a visit to our customer service department to look at samples and get first hand advice.
In general from a cost standpoint it is usually advantageous to use "contract" paper.  Exceptions to this are sometimes seen in smaller jobs using less ordinary selections or when an adequate amount of time has not been allowed to take advantage of these savings. When requesting contract paper not stocked by the Division of Printing it can take up to two weeks for delivery of the stock. Call customer service if you have concerns about your paper selection.

Bindery options:
When describing folding requirements please use the "final size" that the product will be delivered. For the purposes of cost it is not necessary for us to know how we will arrive at that size.

Perforating information need only include how many and whether in one or both directions. The only exception to this would be for perforations which do not run completely across the sheet.

Punching information needed is basically yes or no.

If wafer tabbing is required on more than one edge this should be indicated
