Definition of Terms for the Employment Registration Process

Cls/Uncls
Cls = Classified; all positions in state service except those placed in the unclassified service.

Uncls = Unclassified; those positions specifically designated as unclassified by K.S.A. 75-2935, as amended, and other sections of the statutes. ( Search statutes).   
 
Personal Data Sheet
A form used to register personal data with the State of Kansas.  Applicants provide their name and address and basic information about their education.  
 
Employment Application Form
A form used for applying directly to the State of Kansas agency where the vacancy exists (an application form). Many agencies use the Employment Application form as an application, a few agencies may require a different form. Contact the recruiter for more information. 
 
Full/Part
Full = Full-time; refers to full-time positions   Part = Part-time; refers to all positions which are less than full-time.
 
Hiring Rate
The starting rate of pay for the position. 
Kansas Employee Preference Program
The Kansas Employee Preference Program provides individuals who have been or will be laid off from their current position the opportunity to apply for and be offered a position at or below their current pay grade as long as that individual meets the minimum qualifications for that position. 
Job Class Specification
This document defines the work of a group of positions, such as Accountant I or II, and includes examples of work performed by representative positions in the class. The actual duties of a specific position would be described by an agency in a position description. Contact the agency if you would like to request a copy of the position description. 
Reg/Temp
Reg = Regular position; any position other than a temporary position    Temp = Temporary position; a classified position limited to 999 hours of employment in state service within a 12 month period. 
Reemployment 
Refers to the return to state service of a person who was either laid off, or transferred or demoted in lieu of layoff. 
Reinstatement 
means rehiring a former permanent state employee within one year of a voluntary termination from the state into a position for which the individual meets the required selection criteria and which is in the same or similar class as the class in which the individual had permanent status prior to the termination.

Requisition Number; a unique identification number which represents a specific job opening.
