Job Description:

To assist the Kansas State Department of Education to carry out the Kansas State Board of Education mission, we are recruiting for an Accountant (IV) on the Fiscal Services and Operations Team in the Division of Fiscal and Administrative Services.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION
This is a critical position for the Kansas State Department of Education.  It assists with the preparation and assembling of financial information requested during the state’s annual Subpart F (UGG) Single Audit.  This position is responsible for completing and/or assisting in the completion of numerous federal financial reports that must be completed as a condition to receiving the grants.  This position assists in the training of new accounting staff.  It routinely provides technical assistance on grant administration to program directors and daily assistance to staff utilizing the agency accounting system.  It also assists with the department’s internal contract request procedures which works in conjunction with the Department of Administration’s prior authorization process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Four years of experience in professional accounting/auditing work.  Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
