Job Description:

The Kansas Department for Children and Families Services (DCF)
currently has a Child Protection Specialist position in our Prevention and Protection Services division located in our Overland Park Service Center. This positon may have job responsibilities with other counties within the Kansas City Region as needed.

Job Description :

The purpose of this position is to assess reports of suspected abuse and/or neglect, to protect children and strengthen family systems. Short term interventions are provided as needed. If children are placed out of home, professional services are provided to the child and family through coordination with contractors to reach permanency. These positions will monitor services provided by the contractor per DCF regulations and directives.

These positions require:  Eligible for licensure  with the Kansas  Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB)  as listed below.  These position also require a valid driver's license. 

PREFERRED:

If you have obtained at minimum:  a bachelor's degree in Social Work, master's degree for a Professional Counseling license,  or  a master' s degree in  Marriage and Family Therapy  and are not yet licensed, you are encouraged to apply. 

If hired with BSRB licensure, you will be hired as a Child Protection Specialist with the starting salary of $40,000/annually.  If hired without  BSRB licensure, you will be hired as Child Protective Investigator with the expectation of obtaining licensure within approximately 6 months of hire and a starting salary of $32,730/annually.
