A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. Applicants are responsible for submitting a valid certificate with all other application materials to the hiring agency. This is in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. The Kansas Department of Transportation is seeking a staff attorney to draft contract provisions and scope statements for agency construction contracts (both bid and emergency), professional engineering contracts, highway utility and railroad contracts, and KDOT communications systems’ contracts.  This position also investigates and evaluates contract disputes and conducts settlement negotiations related to contract disputes, risk allocation, and claims of and payments made to contractors and consultants on agency construction and design consultant contracts. It is anticipated that the person filling this position will be promoted to the Manager of Contracts/Claims upon the supervisor’s retirement.  The salary range is $65K to $75K, DOE.
