Job Description:

Program Assistant (K0228760 and K0221860) in the Division of Health Care Finance: Medicaid

This position requires the exercise of initiative, independent judgment and discretion in performance. Good organization skills and prioritizing are important. Candidate must have good follow through on work responsibilities and have a strong attention to detail.
This position prepares cases for examiner review. Analyze nature and severity of impairments and using knowledge of body systems and medical terminology, obtain appropriate medical evidence. Document case demographics in (Presumptive Medical Disability) PMDT computer system and communications within the KEES system. Case management, including timely follow-ups and collaboration with Supervisor, Lead, and Examiner. Report decisions to Kancare office and facilitators per PMDT policy and procedures. Monitor workflow queues for incoming records and route with 100% accuracy. Perform weekly reconciliation with Social Security claim status. Request case status with DDS using secure system, per MOU. Maintain compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Research providers and use the KHIN system to obtain records at no cost and without delay. Using Social Security listings as a guide, provide vocational and educational background as required for adjudication.

Minimum Requirements:
One year of experience interacting with the public in a social service or problem resolution setting. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Criteria: 
• High School/GED
• One year experience in case management; including research and compiling information.
• One year experience in a medical office and/or medical records.
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Experience working with HIPAA rules and guidelines.
• Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
• Proofreading, editing, attention to detail

Salary:
$12.98 to $15.03 hourly; can vary depending upon experience and qualifications.
