Job Description:

The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) currently has two Kansas Protection Report Specialists positions
in the Prevention and Protection Services Division.  These positions are located in Topeka, KS.  The rate of pay is
$40,000.00 annually based on education and experience.  Various shifts and hours are available.

Job Duties Description:
The primary responsibility of this position is completing the Initial Assessment Decisions on child and adult reports
of abuse and neglect to determine the agency response. The KPRC Protection Specialists completing the Initial
Assessment Decisions must have knowledge of DCF policy and procedure, Child in Need of Care statutes, Adult Protective
Service statutes, social work practice, the ability to research DCF internal systems and accurately document decisions
while adhering to strict time lines. Contacts are made internally and internally, therefore collaboration,
communication and high quality written and verbal skills are required. This position is essential to DCF protecting
children and vulnerable adults.

Minimum Requirements: Licensed Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) professional as determined relevant by the
agency.  Must have license at the time of hire. 

Preferred Screening Criteria: 
One of the following required: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Social Work (Licensed Social Worker); Master’s in
Professional Counseling (Licensed Professional Counselor); Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist).

Security Clearance: A background check (KBI – criminal background, welfare fraud, driver’s license, and Child/Adult
Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF)
as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check.  Security clearance must be obtained
prior to employment with DCF.

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE REQUIRED:  Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a

http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html.  A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and
ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws.  A Tax Clearance expires every
90 days.  All applicants, including current state employees, are responsible for submitting a valid certificate with
