Job Description:

The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) currently has multiple unclassified Child Protection Supervisor positions in the Prevention and Protection Services Division. These positions are located in the Wichita Service Center.  The starting salary for these positions is $44,000.00 annually.

These positions supervise service teams comprised of licensed Child Protection Specialists and Child Protective Investigators who are responsible for investigating child abuse and neglect, making referrals to contract agencies, and filing petitions with District Court to ensure child safety.  The work of the supervisor includes evaluating, reviewing, planning, and implementing program policies, procedures, and guidelines to assist the department.

Minimum Requirements:  License to practice social work in the State of Kansas at the time of hire and one year of experience as a social worker.

Preferred Criteria:  One or more of the following: Bachelor’s in Social Work (Licensed Social Worker), Master’s in Professional Counseling (Licensed Professional Counselor), Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE REQUIRED:  Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website at www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html  A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. All applicants, including current state employees, are responsible for submitting a valid certificate with all other application materials to the hiring agency.  This is in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. How you will be evaluated and what to expect next:  Your application will be reviewed to ensure you meet the minimum requirements and rated based on your qualifications.  Please follow all instructions carefully.  Errors or omissions may affect your rating or consideration for employment.  Once your completed application package, including all required documents (see below) is received, an evaluation of your qualifications will be conducted in order to determine your ranking.  Based on this ranking, you may be referred to the hiring manager for further consideration and possible interview.  If you are selected for an interview and are one of the top candidates, you will be subject to a security background check.

Security Clearance: A background check (KBI – criminal background, welfare fraud, driver’s license, and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check.  Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF.
