Job Description:

Primary duties of this position include and are not limited to :
• Develop, implement, and maintain all necessary information security policies, standards, and procedures required for a comprehensive Information Security program. 
• Conduct ongoing risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities that could threaten the security, confidentiality and integrity of Lottery information assets.  
• Collaborate with applicable outside information security sources to ensure Lottery’s alignment with Lottery industry and State security initiatives.
•  Lead and participate in security planning sessions.
• Conduct information security investigations.

Essential Job Functions:
• Plan, execute and lead security audits and establish and manage information security programs and activities.
• Inspect and evaluate financial and information systems, management procedures and security controls.
• Evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness and compliance of operation processes with agency and statewide security policies and regulations.
• Develop and administer risk-focused exams for IT systems.
• Execute and properly document the audit process on a variety of computing environments and computer applications.
• Assess the exposures resulting from ineffective or missing control practices.
• Accurately interpret audit results against defined criteria.
• Weigh the relevancy, accuracy and perspective of conclusions against audit evidence.
• Provide a written and verbal report of audit findings.
• Develop rigorous “best practice” recommendations to improve security on all levels.
• Work with management to ensure security recommendations comply with company procedure
• Develop and implement information security policies, trainings, and related programs and activities.
• Collaborate with departments to improve security compliance, manage risk and bolster effectiveness.

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$82,000.


Qualifications include and are not limited to:
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree with course work in computer science from an accredited college or university required.   Emphasis on information security preferred.
• Coursework and/or training in information security required. 
• One or more cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc.) required.  Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered and may be substituted for preferred certifications. 
• Six years of IT work experience required with (3) years of information security work experience preferred.
• Must be able to pass extensive background check prior to hire and subject to periodic updates.
• Subject to tax clearance upon hire and subject to periodic updates.
• Must complete form I-9 upon hire and update and/or re-verify as required
• Employees of the Kansas Lottery and designated family members are subject to the provisions of the Kansas Lottery Act, K.S.A.74-8701 et seq, and the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act, K.S.A. 74-8733 et seq.
• By law, any person who holds or has held a license with the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission may not be employed by the Kansas Lottery within five years after last holding such license.

A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days.
