Job Description:

This is an entry-level field auditing position in Audit Services Bureau. The primary duties and responsibilities involve field and office audits to determine compliance with Kansas laws, rules, and regulations. Auditor will be assigned to specialize in one of the three following tax areas:

Corporate Income/Privilege tax audits of small to medium-sized multi-state corporations and financial institutions; Vehicle/Motor Fuel tax audits of motor carriers for compliance with the International Fuel Tax Agreement and the International Registration Plan; or Sales and use tax compliance audits of taxpayers conducting business in Kansas.

On the job training will last approximately four to six months. Significant overnight travel may be required. Auditor is responsible for thoroughly analyzing the assignment, scheduling audits with taxpayers, traveling to the taxpayer's location, examining and analyzing taxpayer records, documenting audit steps and conclusions, preparing detailed written reports citing specifics of noncompliance as well as related statutes, regulations and case law.

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED FOR EVERY APPLICANT:

Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website at http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html

A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. Applicants are responsible for submitting a valid certificate with all other application materials to the hiring agency. This is in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from accredited 4 year college with 24 hours of accounting classes.

This is an Unclassified position.

Salary starting at $43,000.00 annually (Negotiable, dependent upon qualifications and experience)
