Job Description:

The attorney in this position will handle a variety of duties, including representing the Department of Revenue in complex litigation matters, handling the legal aspects of personnel issues, and providing legal advice to Department personnel.  In addition, the attorney in this position may handle other duties, such as handling driver’s license suspension appeals that are in the district and appellate courts of Kansas.

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED FOR EVERY APPLICANT: 

Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website at http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html

 
A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. Applicants are responsible for submitting a valid certificate with all other application materials to the hiring agency. This is in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. Your application will be considered incomplete if an ACTUAL COPY of your Certificate is not submitted within 48 hours after the posting closes.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Certificate of admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Kansas or temporary permit to practice law issued by the Supreme Court of Kansas at the time of hire. Some positions may require additional minimum requirements that will be specified on the position description.


NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  This position will work out of the Johnson County or the Shawnee County office.

Regular Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Hours of work may be negotiable

This is an Unclassified position.  

Salary:

Can vary depending upon experience and qualifications.
