Job Description:

The Kansas Veterans’ Home in Winfield is looking for a dependable individual to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse in our Medical Records Department.  We’re looking for an friendly individual who will attend work on time as scheduled and who wants to make a difference in the lives of veterans.

As an LPN in Medical Records, you will:

Prepare, maintain and report medical record information to ensure that all data related to admission, diagnosis, treatment and discharged is maintained; Serve as a lead worker with Nurse Aide assigned to medical records; Maintain effective working relationships with professional and non-professional employees, residents and the public; Coordinate and provide in-services on the medical recordkeeping functions of appropriate administrative, therapeutic and clerical staff; Coordinate timely and accurate transcription of medical and other professional reports regarding residents; Collect statistical data and compile in report form; and may be scheduled on occasion to provide LPN coverage during a shortage or emergency situation.

Minimum Requirements:

License to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State at the time of hire. 

Experience in maintaining Medical recordkeeping – preferably in long-term care setting.

Required Skills and Abilities:  Ability to: 1) report to work as scheduled and remain on duty, 2) understand and follow verbal and written instructions; read and comprehend written materials to include rules, regulations and procedures, 3) establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff, 4) communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and 5) maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents.
