Job Description:

The Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex (KJCC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Facilities Specialist-Tool Control Specialist, KJCC– Topeka, KS.  Responsible for the tool room administration and the day-to-day operations of the system for maintenance. Issue hand tools and other specialty tools to maintenance staff throughout the day and assures all the tools are checked in at the end of the day. Maintains a master inventory of all tools in the tool room. Responsible for maintaining written documentation for all tool room activity. Assist in managing the maintenance software program to assure work orders are dispatched to the appropriate maintenance staff.
Salary begins at $31,262.40 and may increase depending on qualifications. Unclassified (At-Will), Full-Time, Nonexempt, Benefits Eligible.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the tool room administration of the KJCC maintenance department and the day-to-day, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual operations of the tool control system for the entire KJCC Complex (both physically and electronically) used. Maintain, manages, and inventories tools and small equipment in the tool room areas for use by the maintenance staff. Assure all tools are returned and/or accounted for at the end of the shift by utilizing a daily tool control log of all tools assigned to the main tool crib.

Responsible for maintaining written documentation and keeping all necessary forms up-to-date and accurate for all KJCC tool room(s) activities to include daily tool inventory forms, tool crib activity logs, tool destruction logs and missing/lost tool  items report and inventory verification.

Provide one-on-one detailed training for KJCC and Contract staff who are responsible for tools in their respective areas on the proper tool control forms to complete, procedures to use and any other information they need to know. Perform tool control inventory of any tools being introduced into the complex whether it be from outside contractors performing work at the complex or new tools that will be used by a specific educational program or maintenance program.

Maintains tool room in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Maintains tool control computer database and keeps a master inventory of all tools in the tool room accurate and up-to-date as necessary and maintain a maximum and minimum inventory record on new and stocked tools as assigned and inform supervisors of depleted stock.

Assist and/or provides back-up clerical duties for the maintenance division to include managing the maintenance software program “Facility Dude” on a daily basis to assure work orders are dispatched to the appropriate  maintenance staff, Maintains an updated filing system for the maintenance division for tool control and other maintenance filing as required or as assigned by supervisor. Maintains database for maintenance related activities and generates reports as assigned by supervisor.

Required Minimum Requirements: 
One year of experience in storekeeping, including receiving, inspecting, cataloging, and storing goods and maintaining inventory records.  Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
