Annual charitable contributions that are payroll deductions on employee paychecks will be printed on the 2008 W-2 forms. The total deductions for the year will be printed in Box 14 with the description “CHRTY” as an abbreviation for charitable contributions. The amount will include the deductions for the Community Health Charities and United Way. This enhancement will help employees who are entitled to use this amount as a deduction on their tax returns. Instead of having to use their final paycheck for the year to show their annual charitable contribution made through payroll, employees will simply be able to use their W-2. Agencies will see this new item added to the W-2 Listing (KTXPR55 report).
