Job Description:

Unclassified Registered Nurse  must be able to demonstrate the knowledge of skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served.   The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development and possess the ability to assess and interpret data to identify age specific needs.  Participates in Natural Work Teams and/or Quality Action Teams.  The purpose is to provide specialized professional nursing supervision and coordination of quality patient care by fostering therapeutic relationships, active treatment and supporting the hospital in the pursuit of the LSH Strategic Plan. 

Preferred Qualifications:  Eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas and one (1) year experience in registered nursing.

Special Qualifications/Education:  At the time of the appointment the selected employee must possess a Kansas license/temporary permit, or be given authority to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.  Requires an approved drug test approved by the Kansas Department of Administration unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similar duties. CPR Certification MANDT Certification. 

**Employees in this classification may occasionally be required to work overtime, with shifts lasting up to a maximum of 16 hours per day.**

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE REQUIRED: Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website at  http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax  account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days.

What to Expect Next:  Once you complete and submit your application materials, your application will be reviewed to ensure you meet the minimum and any necessary special requirements.   Supporting documentation will be verified.  Please follow all instructions carefully.  Failure to return all required paperwork, i.e., tax clearance form, etc. will result in non consideration for the position.  Next, applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior based interview questions. A written exercise may be completed at the time of interview. A second interview may be conducted.  Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation.
