Job Description:

We have more than 1 vacancy. 

Responsible for skilled work in one craft and semi-skilled work in an additional craft to assist the various crafts, i.e., carpenters, plumbers, painters, mason, electricians and electronic technician in the performance of their assigned tasks for demolitions, installations, retrofit work and general repairs and emergency work as may be assigned. 

Performs general maintenance at the skill or semi-skilled craft level including but not limited to carpentry, electrical, masonry and painting.  Changes belts and bearings on equipment.  Resets breakers in electrical panels, replaces switches and outlets, relamps and replace ballasts in light fixtures, disconnect electrical power to equipment in order to implement repairs, run conduit and wire to install new equipment as needed.  Builds necessary support and enhancement structures using wood, metal, and concrete for new or existing equipment.  Performs painting in equipment rooms as needed.  Conducts periodic inspections of the plant and the distribution system.  Checks for possible leaks in lines, valves, and pumps; makes emergency repairs and notifies supervisor of condition using phone, clipboard, flashlight, gauges, hand tools, knowledge of systems and systems history and supervisory directory. 

Makes alterations to buildings such as installing partitions, ceilings, laying flooring, hanging sheet rock, and other related work to meet the requirements of building tenants by using knowledge of various mechanical trades and/or crafts.  Move Herman Miller wall panels and lifting office furniture, in order to assist the GMRT Senior employees with the completion of construction projects.  Utilizes Office of Facilities and Procurement Management CMMS system to get work orders and report both time and materials involved back to the supervisor.  Informs supervisor of parts needed and utilizes the OFPM Warehouse to obtain the parts. 

This is an unclassified position with benefits.

Starting hourly rate $11.21. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Six months of experience in a building trades or mechanical building trade.  Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.   Requires a valid driver’s license.  The ability to lift or negotiate the movement of up to 50 lbs. and to work from ladders and scaffolding.
