Job Description:

Job Summary: The Adair Acute Care At Osawatomie State Hospital has a position open for a Nurse Manager. As the manager you will organize, evaluate and ensure that the staff is providing adequate care to patients. Will oversee the daily staffing requirements of the department. This individual must have strong leadership skills to be able to solve staff issues and ensure care and comfort of patients. Nurse manager is also a liaison between the nursing staff and the doctors. This is the night position, 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Job Description: Will ensure complexity of the nursing care, treatment, and service needs of AAC patients, the various needs of diverse populations served. Assists the Patient Representative as necessary to resolve patient care problems and to assure compliance with patients’ rights by nursing staff. Foster open and productive communication and stays receptive to concerns and needs of the program. Responsible for managing a system that assures nursing staff are appropriately licensed, receive appropriate ongoing training, and are assigned in adequate numbers to assure patient safety and effective assessment, care, treatment, and services. Demonstrate problem-solving skills and stress tolerance. Ensure nursing staff receive feedback, evaluate and/or review written evaluations on nursing staff in a timely manner to facilitate professional growth and development of supervisees. Effectively manage a peer review process which is committed to improving patient care, treatment, and services. Develop, implement, and manage policies and procedures that assure that all patient areas meet requirements for fire safety, infection control, and JCAHO requirements for EOC. Welcomes and educates newly assigned employees in order to familiarize the employee with specific treatment programs, roles and related tasks/responsibilities to the program. 

Minimum Qualifications: Eligible to be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the State of Kansas and one year of experience as a registered nurse. Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

Preferred skills: Possess knowledge and skills associated with BSN degree in nursing or a related field or another appropriate degree or has written plan to obtain these qualifications.
