Position Summary: Position is full-time unclassified. Pay is $14.83 per hour with a possible shift differential of $.50 per hour.  2nd shift-work schedule varies by assignment,  This position is eligible for all benefits offered to State of Kansas employees.

Position Description : Position is part of the Kansas National Guard HQ Complex Protection Force and is assigned to provide security to the complex during a shift. Incumbent provides armed security, performs access control, asset protection & surveillance monitoring; responds to critical situations and takes appropriate action(s). Responds to on-complex vehicle accidents, theft incidents, and suspicious persons or vehicles. Writes reports on daily activities, incident reports, and access control logs. Incumbent regularly encounters military personnel, public officials, agency employees, and visitors to the complex.

Required Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent; Minimum Age 21, and valid Kansas driver license with no court ordered restrictions is required. Must be able to pass a KBI background check and current NCIC/CJIS security awareness certification.

Requires the use of a firearm for duties, with no convictions or diversions from a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime as set forth in 18 U.S.C. § 922 (d) (9) and (g) (9).

Must be able to complete required forms, reports, logs, and other required documentation in a legible manner, according to instructions. Must speak distinctly and have high attention to details. Must have the ability to act independently, respond calmly and consistently in emergencies or stressfull situations with minimal supervision. Position requires physical inspection of complex doors, to prevent unauthorized access, which will require physical foot patrol in some areas.

A drug screen will be required as a Condition of Employment after a conditional offer of employment.

The RPO must qualify on pistol and long gun semi-annually as a condition of employment, and should be familiar with small arms safety and use. Must re-certify annually on proper security responses.

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance as a condition of employment .

Preferred Qualifications : One (1) year armed security/police experience is preferred
