Job Description:

Location of Employment:      Supreme Court Law Library, Kansas Judicial Center, 301 W. 10th St., Topeka, KS 66612    Part Time Position                                                             

                                                                                                                 

Job Duties:  This is sub-professional library work.  Work involves responsibility for performing a wide range of sub-professional library tasks.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Librarian II and is reviewed through conferences and on the basis of results achieved.

 

Examples of Work Performed:   Assists Librarian II with administrative details such as processing billing information associated with publication distribution; delivering library materials; and sorting, shelving, filing, issuing, and receiving library materials efficiently and accurately. Performs duties such as preparing labels; receiving and stamping library materials; typing cards; and preparing deposits. Prepares and assembles materials for binding.  Performs shelf reading. Performs related work as required.

Assists library patrons with questions about the Kansas Supreme Court Library facilities and services.

 

Required Education and Experience:  Graduation from high school. Specialized training or experience in library principles, policies, and procedures preferred.

 

Desired Experience:  Working with automated library catalog systems such as Innovative Interfaces or similar system.

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Some knowledge of library techniques, methods, and procedures. Working with computer technologies and their application, including knowledge of automated library catalog library systems.  Ability to conduct basic legal research. Ability to communicate ideas effectively orally and in writing. Ability to interpret manuals and oral instructions pertaining to library duties. Ability to use a typewriter, Microsoft Office software and library-related software successfully. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Maintains regular attendance at the workplace according to an established schedule. Handles interactions with others appropriately and works well in a team.
