Job Description:

Applicants who fail to submit a Tax Clearance Certificate as required will NOT be considered. Each applicant SHALL obtain a State Tax Clearance Certificate by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue’s website at http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html. Applicants are responsible for submitting their certificate with their application materials to the hiring agency each time they apply. Tax Clearance Certificates must be received within 48 hours of the position closing date. This applies to ALL positions and ALL applicants (including current S.O.K. employees).

Unclassified - $20.13 hourly

DUTIES: Incumbent will perform technical security audits for criminal justice agencies throughout numerous counties within the state of Kansas to ensure compliance to Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) policies and federal and state regulations. Will read and evaluate security policies, visually inspect placement of firewalls, computers and networking equipment. Submit post-audit recommendations for changes/improvements to systems, networks, policies and procedures. Some overnight travel will be required. Assist in enhancing the security audit program by helping in the formulation of operational plans procedures, and policies. Serve on committees, sub-committees. Assist in reviewing and approving agency's access to KCJIS. Work with agencies to help them resolve issues that would prevent them from being approved for connecting to KCJIS. Provide technical computer and network security training. Work involves driving an agency vehicle statewide to perform audits or training, transporting training material and equipment and lifting up to 35 pounds in and out of a vehicle.

 MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency’s programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.   High school or GED Equivalency.  Must become certified in full access NCIC within 6 months after employment. One year experience in computer security. Time, work experience, and overall computer knowledge gained from inside or outside the agency may be considered in lieu of one year of experience. Will be required to attend and successfully complete multiple computer and network security related training courses. Valid Kansas Driver’s license. Must submit to and pass a background investigation. No felony or serious Misdemeanor convictions. Occasional lifting of heavy or awkward items or exertion will be required. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, lean over or crawl under desk or equipment rack to verify equipment placement or connections when conducting an onsite audit.

Preferred:  Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or other computer related technical discipline. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Network Plus, security Plus, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Working knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus programs, network routing devices, network switches, VPNs, VLANs, etc. Must be able to communicate technical computer security issues to personnel. Proficiency with MS Windows Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with both agency and non-agency personnel. Ability to multi-task, and to read and write comprehensively. Understanding of basic mathematical calculations decimal and hexadecimal. Some exposure and understanding of computer hacking tools such as Wireshark, Snort, Netcat, Kismet, Netstumbler, etc. is a plus. Experience in criminal justice is preferred.
