Job Description:

Job Summary:   The Osawatomie State Hospital currently has an opening for an Activity Therapist. The incumbent predominantly provides group therapy, with an average of 4 groups per day. Documentation of patient contact is completed within an electronic medical record.

Job Description: Provide creative expressive or therapeutic recreation treatment groups. These sessions are designed to address patient treatment goals as indicated on the Master Treatment Plan. These music therapy applications may be used as follows: to help the patient gain insight; to encourage self expression; to provide constructive emotional release; to teach coping skills; to identify and strengthen personal assets. Document services provided to patients with regard to the applicable goal in their individual Treatment Plan.  Provide verbal feedback to Interdisciplinary Treatment Team & other members of PTS as needed.  Work with the Psychological & Therapeutic Services team to assist in providing a therapeutic environment for all patients at the hospital.

Minimum Requirements: Four years of experience in therapeutic recreation, horticulture therapy, or one of the creative arts such as art, dance/movement, or music. Education may be substituted for experience as deemed relevant by the agency.
