Job Description:

Staff Development Specialist/Trainer (K0233333) in the Office of the Secretary: Human Resources

Prepares, manages, and delivers personnel and other competency based training to KDHE staff. This includes, but is not limited to: supervisory/leadership training, conflict resolution, communication, workplace bullying, harassment, etc. The incumbent develops training on core human resources procedures with HR subject matter experts such as recruitment, evaluations, payroll, MyOPS, etc. Incumbent develops training for online and in-person. The incumbent is expected to develop any necessary handouts or workbooks for each training with input from the subject matter experts. The incumbent will work alongside employees in KS-Train to develop HR material within KS-Train’s database and assist KS-Train members as requested. Represents KDHE at the STAT training team. Collaborates with KDHE's contracted learning management systems. As directed the incumbent will provide assistance to other agency training departments or deliver training to other state agencies upon the request of the KDHE HR Director or the Director of Personnel Services.
Works with Human Resources Director, KDHE Executive Staff, and other KDHE personnel to implement organizational, department, unit, and/or individual developmental improvement plans. As necessary the incumbent will perform needs assessments to identify training and competency needs for the department, unit, or individual. The incumbent will maintain knowledge of other agency, state, and local training that may be useful to KDHE staff. When requested, the incumbent is able to identify helpful resources and other training opportunities. Works to create individual training plans for employees needing additional assistance.

Minimum Requirements:
Four years of experience in developing and delivering training materials and presentations. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Necessary Special Requirements:
Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.

Preferred Criteria: 
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, education/curriculum development
• Master’s degree in business administration, human resources, education/curriculum development
• Experience giving presentations, lectures, and talking in a group setting
• Ability to develop educational courses
• Experience creating computer based trainings
• Experience training soft skills
• Experience in state government
• Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
• Proofreading, editing, attention to detail

$22.16 hourly; can vary depending upon experience and qualifications.
