Applicants who fail to submit a Tax Clearance Certificate as required will NOT be considered. Each applicant SHALL obtain a State Tax Clearance Certificate by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue’s website at:  http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html Applicants are responsible for submitting their certificate with their application materials to the hiring agency each time they apply. Tax Clearance Certificates must be received within 48 hours of the position closing date. This applies to ALL positions and ALL applicants (including current State of Kansas employees). DUTIES: Weigh motor carriers at a fixed scale facility, ensuring all vehicles are of legal size and weight to ensure compliance with designated laws, rules and regulations. Examine motor carriers for required safety equipment ensuring they are in operating order. Ensure loads are secure and special requirements, such as flagman or pilot car, are met.

Inspect motor carrier registrations, licenses, permits, driver’s daily logs, medical card and insurance coverage, in order to ensure compliance with state laws, may include checks for dyed fuel usage. Issue permit for oversize loads, mobile homes and for use of Kansas highways.

Incumbent must be able to perform the following functions: Able to multi-task; get along with all kinds of people and personalities; have good oral communication skills; able to read and write comprehensively; make simple math computations; count money; basic data entry; see to inspect driver’s license, registrations, permits, medical card, etc.; measure axles, inspect tires, climb on and crawl under and around trucks; and stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, twist, reach, lift, pull, shovel snow, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must complete and pass with a written examination in the practices and procedures of the North American Standard Inspection courses annually in order to maintain this mandatory certification. Valid driver’s license
