The position you are viewing is located in the Office of Information Technology Services in Topeka, and serves the citizens of Kansas.  This position is full-time, unclassified position with benefits. Salary begins at $25.68 per hour, depending on experience and/or skill level of applicant.

This position performs technical administration of KDOT's network and security resources. Network resources include the ITS network, KHP radio dispatch network, KDOT SONET fiber network, wireless field networks and advance ITS projects such as Truck Parking. This position maintains documentation and assists with planning of network expansion, network performance, and network security. It is also an expert technical consultant who advises the Security Manager and technical staff on issues related to KDOT's security. This position investigates network intrusions and anomalies and performs system forensics to remediate discovered issues or problems and researches network and security performance metrics and suggest ways to improve network performance and security. Most work will be performed in an office environment using a desktop PC. Some duties will require the physical installation and movement of equipment of up to 50 lbs in a data center or remote field locations. Occasional overnight travel to remote locations may be required. Standby and overtime after normal business hours may be required.

Essential Requirements:
• Successful completion of 12 hours in computer science coursework or certification and six months experience in providing security and disaster recovery for information technology systems. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
• Experience with enterprise security hardware, software, and configuration
• A valid driver's license

Preferred Criteria:
• CISCO Firepower firewall, F5 load balancer, CISCO Firesight IPS, CISCO Catalyst switch, and Forcepoint Internet appliance, support and configuration
• Communications fiber experience, CISCO Optical Networking System (ONS) Sonet, and CISCO CCNA certification
