A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. Applicants are responsible for submitting a valid certificate with all other application materials to the hiring agency. This is in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. The position you are viewing is located in Independence and serves the citizens of Kansas.  This position is full-time, unclassified position with benefits. Salary begins at $14.30 per hour, depending on experience and/or skill level of applicant.

Position provides direct support to Area Engineer, supervisors, and employees in the Area by providing guidance on personnel paperwork, payroll, and benefit issues, process all personnel transactions, first contact in areas of FMLA and Work compensation. . Prepares personnel transactions and maintains records of personnel actions, performs electronic data entry to submit personnel transaction through SHaRP, CICSP, and/or KDOT automated work flow system. In charge of consumable supplies and processes payment vouchers for area thru ordering stock and capital inventory, mechanical parts. first level of contact for the public, vendors, law enforcement, and other state agencies concerning KDOT road information, job opportunities, highway permits, policy and procedures. Track inventory, Insures compliance with statutes, regulations policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains all filing, reviews records for completeness, admissibility or eligibility in accordance with regulations.

Due to the nature of the work, the incumbent may/will be required to work additional hours when needed, including nights and weekends.  Additional hours will be assigned by the supervisor depending upon the needs of the agency.

Essential Requirements:
• Two years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Requirements:
• Experience using Microsoft Office software.
• Experience working with an electronic payroll system.
• Knowledge of State of Kansas rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Effective communication, both oral and written.
• Experience extracting, analyzing, and transmitting complex information from a variety of sources.
