Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: 
Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a State Tax Clearance Certificate by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website at http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html.  A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. All applicants, including current State employees, are responsible for submitting a valid and up to date certificate with all other application materials to the hiring agency. The position you are viewing is located in the Bureau of Transportation Planning in Topeka.  This is a full-time, unclassified position with benefits.  Pay begins at $23.31 per hour, depending on experience and/or the skill level of the applicant

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position works with various Kansas Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) to verify that they meet or exceed the metropolitan planning requirements established by federal law. Guides MPOs through the Continuing, Cooperative and Comprehensive (3-C) planning process. This position reviews annual planning grant agreements, reviews financial records and approves payments against planning grants. In addition to the aforementioned MPO oversight duties, this position will work with the Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator to administer programs and efforts such as the Transportation Alternatives program, Strategic Highway Safety Plan, Safe Routes to School, and the United States Bicycle Route system evaluation. This position is also responsible for various planning studies as assigned. The employee is given specific direction for work by the Comprehensive Transportation Planning Unit Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION: 
NOTE:  If you lack any of the required experience and want us to consider relevant education, you must provide copies of your transcripts/certificates before the closing date.

Essential Requirements:
• Two years of experience in urban/regional planning.
• Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.  Transcripts must be provided if substituting education.

Preferred Requirements:
• Master’s in Urban Planning, City and Regional Planning, or Transportation Planning from a university accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board or a Master's Degree in Public Administration from an accredited university.
