Job Description:

Unclassified Mental Health/Dev Disab Tech provides quality patient care by fostering therapeutic relationships, assisting in active treatment and supporting the hospital in the pursuit of the LSH Strategic Plan.  The MHDD Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served.  Duties include but not limited to: Employee may be exposed to violence and intense physical exertion; therefore, employee should know Hospital/Nursing safety procedures, adhere to them and conduct regular reviews of the procedures. Provides direct patient/resident care and fosters therapeutic relationships. Maintains safe, secure and therapeutic environment Provides escorting of patients/residents to and from assigned activities and appointments as directed. Be able to perform work that requires physical strength to frequently and repetitively bend, stoop, walk, push, pull, twist, squat, and lift patients with assistance. Respond to aggressive patient behavior with specific, trained techniques including patient restraint.  Have the ability to talk, hear, see, read and write. Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds repetitively.  May be required to work up to 16 consecutive hours.

A Tax Clearance Certificate is required for all applicants. Obtain your certificate by following the instructions at http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html   include your name and job requisition number on all correspondence when submitting documents to the designated recruiter.

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE REQUIRED: Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website at   http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days.

What to Expect Next:  Once you complete and submit your application materials, your application will be reviewed to ensure you meet the minimum and any necessary special requirements.   Supporting documentation will be verified.  Please follow all instructions carefully.  Failure to complete all required paperwork, i.e., tax clearance form, including security clearance forms that will be emailed to you upon receipt of your application, by closing date will result in non-consideration for the position.  Next, applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior based interview questions. A written exercise may be completed at the time of interview. A second interview may be conducted.  Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation.
