The Internal Revenue Service released the 2005 Form W-4, Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate, on December 11, 2004. As stated in Informational Circular 05-P-014 issued December 10, IRS regulations require employees claiming ‘exempt status’ to file a new Form W-4 annually. Employees wishing to claim ‘exempt status’ in 2005 are asked to file the 2005 W-4 by December 17, 2004. SHARP employees are encouraged to use the Employee Self Service functionality to file their 2005 W-4. The
2005 Form W-4 is available at the IRS website at www.irs.gov or at the Accounts and Reports website at http://da.state.ks.us/ar/.

The 2005 Form W-5, Earned Income Credit Advance Payment Certificate, has not yet been released by the IRS; agencies will be notified as soon as the
2005 W-5 form is made available.
